Who Should I get my letters of recommendation from?
Ideally, your college recommendation letters should come from high school teachers who know you well in an academic subject. And though it's nice to hear that you got an A in their class, it's even better when an instructor can talk about how you think, solve problems, and engage with new material.
Can my therapist write me a letter of recommendation?
The therapist-client relationship is not a professional, academic, relationship. Contact with a therapist is based on a therapeutic relationship. The primary job of a therapist is to provide services, not to write a recommendation. A therapist cannot provide an objective perspective on your professional competencies.
Do letters of recommendation need to be from professors?
The short answer is that it depends on the programme you are applying to. Sometimes universities explicitly ask recommendation letters only from professors, or from both professors and employers. Ideally, you should have known that person for at least six months before asking them for a letter.
